How does the APL calculator work?
The APL (Personalized Housing Assistance) is a benefit paid by the CAF to help tenants pay their rent. Our calculator allows you to quickly estimate the amount of assistance you may be entitled to.
Calculation process:
- Determination of the rent ceiling according to your geographic zone and household size
- Addition of the monthly charges allowance (between €58 and €125 depending on household)
- Calculation of your considered resources (income + asset yield > €30,000)
- Calculation of your personal contribution (about 30% of your income)
- Application of the coverage rate (50% to 70% depending on resources)
- Degression of aid if income exceeds ceilings
- Verification of minimum payable amount (€10)
The 3 geographic zones:
- Zone 1: Paris and 76 municipalities in inner suburbs (rent capped at €304 for 1 person)
- Zone 2: Urban areas > 100,000 inhabitants and outer suburbs (€263 for 1 person)
- Zone 3: Other municipalities (€253 for 1 person)
Important: This calculator provides an estimate based on current official CAF rates. Only the CAF can determine the exact amount of your assistance based on your complete personal situation.
